Social Responsibilities

HIV Project

The FMS HIV & Trauma Policy is an insurance that makes provision for testing and treatment in the event of accidental exposure to blood and body fluids or needle stick injuries that may expose assignees to HIV. This policy provides for counselling, testing and treatment. Should your first test for HIV be negative, the assignee will be registered for a case management programme and receive 30 day antiretroviral treatment (ART) medication. If the first test is positive, the assignee will be registered for a disease management programme with unlimited counselling, ongoing support and assistance. A call centre is available at 0861 273 883 where assignees must phone in and report any incidents within 48 hours after an incident occurred. This insurance is compulsory for all assignees.

Learnerships

Charisma fully subscribes to the skills development initiative of South Africa with its overall vision of an integrated skills development system introduced by the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998).

Charisma offers learnerships for temporary employees as well as its own permanent, internal staff. Learnerships are essentially workplace learning programmes supported by structured institutional learning which result in a qualification. A learnership consists of a contract between a learner, the employer and a training provider for a specified period leading to acquisition of National Qualification and / or credits towards National Qualifications. These qualifications go beyond those traditionally offered through formal education or work related systems to increase access to education and training. As required by legislation, learnerships must be made available to both employed and unemployed people.
